The irresistible earworm “Call Me Maybe” was inescapable the summer of 2012, its ubiquity turning Canadian singer and songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen into a breakout star. “Call Me Maybe” has sold more than 9.1 million singles worldwide and climbed to #1 in more than 37 countries, including the U.S. where it spent a record-breaking nine weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100. Her U.S. debut album Kiss debuted at number six on the Billboard 200, selling over 46,000 copies in its opening week.
British songstress Cher Lloyd’s first album, Sticks + Stones, debuted in the Top 10 on the US charts. The 19-year-old former X Factor UK contestant landed a Top 10 single with “Want U Back”, launched a second Top 10 with “Oath,” featuring Becky G., and picked up a nation of U.S. fans who proudly call themselves ‘brats.’
Emblem3 finished fourth on Fox’s The X Factor last year and their debut single, “Chloe (You're the One That I Want)” sold 35,000 downloads in its first two weeks, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Emblem3 – Drew Chadwick and brothers, Wesley Stromberg and Keaton Stromberg will appear on ABC's Good Morning America on June 7.
Electronic dance music producer Zedd, debut album Clarity was released in October 2012. The album reached #3 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart. His remix of Skrillex's "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" broke into the Beatport Electro House Top Ten charts, and he’s produced remixes for The Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Skrillex, and more.
