Legendary jazz guitarist and R&B singer George Benson, accompanied by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, brings “Inspiration: A Tribute to Nat King Cole” to Meadow Brook Music Festival on June 27 at 8 p.m.

Benson’s album: Inspiration: A Tribute to Nat King Cole is set for release June 4. A testament to the spirit of Cole’s timeless body of work, Benson’s has created heartfelt renditions of some of Cole’s greatest songs with the 42-piece Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra and duets with Tony Award winner Idina Menzel, Judith Hill, and multi-GRAMMY and Pulitzer Prize-winning trumpeter Wynton Marsalis.
With more than 30 recordings and 10 Grammy Awards, Benson, an NEA Jazz Master, is known among the world’s top jazz guitarists. He had his first major pop, R&B and contemporary hit with “This Masquerade” on his 1976 Breezin album.
