The iconic bands that helped define the “San Francisco Sound” – Journey and the Steve Miller Band – will play DTE Energy Music Theatre on July 9 at 6:45 p.m. with special guest Tower of Power.

Journey has sold 80 million albums worldwide and has earned 19 Top 40 singles and 25 gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums since the group formed in 1973. In 2011, the band received the prestigious “Legend of Live Award” at the 2011 Billboard Touring Awards and completed one of the band’s most successful tours, drawing nearly a million fans and ranking in the Top 15 Tours of the year. That same year, Journey also celebrated the 30th anniversary of the band’s seminal anthem, “Don’t Stop Believin’,” the biggest selling song from the 20th century in iTunes history. They followed up in 2013, performing to more than half a million fans on its world tour across four continents.
One of rock music's all-time greats, the Steve Miller Band has sold more than 30 million records in a career spanning more than 40 years. He has released two albums in the past few years, including the number one blues album, Bingo, followed by Let Your Hair Down. In 2010, Miller toured Europe for the first time in 25 years for a hugely successful round of dates culminating in a sold-out Royal Albert Hall concert in London that opened the door for the band to tour Europe twice in the past three years. They also toured in Australia and New Zealand in 2013.
