Formed in 2001, by banjoist Scott Avett and guitarist Seth Avett with standup bass player Bob Crawford, The Avett Brothers have become folk-rock stalwarts over the course of eight albums, including 2007’s acclaimed Emotionalism, which marked the first appearance of cellist Joe Kwon, now a touring and recording member of the band. Mike Marsh and Paul Delfigia also tour with the band.
The Avett Brothers made mainstream waves in 2009 with their lauded major label debut, I and Love and You, which was produced by the legendary Rick Rubin. It landed at #16 on the Billboard 200 chart and garnered unanimous critical acclaim from Rolling Stone, Paste, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and Time, who dubbed it one of Top 10 albums of the year.
Rubin also produced their seventh full-length album, The Carpenter in 2012, and the group’s latest album, Magpie and the Dandelion, which was released on October 15, 2013. It reached #5 on the Billboard 200 during its first week.
Old Crow Medicine Show – Kevin Hayes, Cory Younts, Critter Fuqua, Chance McCoy, Ketch Secor, Gill Landry and Morgan Jahnig – were inducted to the historic Grand Ole Opry this past September. They also won the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Long Form Music Video for the film Big Easy Express, and their classic single, “Wagon Wheel,” receive the RIAA’s Platinum certification for selling over 1 million copies.
The Avett Brothers with special guests Old Crow Medicine Show at Meadow Brook Music Festival is part of the Belle Tire Concert Series.
