Young The Giant recently wrapped the previous leg of the Home of the Strange Tour with 46 SOLD OUT shows. Starting next week, the band will be performing at a number of upcoming festivals that will run into summer, including San Antonio, TX’s Maverick Music Festival (April 7), Knoxville, TN’s Rhythm ‘n’ Blooms Music Festival (April 9), Gulf Shores, AL’s Hangout Music Fest (May 19), and Cleveland, OH’s LaureLive (June 11).
Young The Giant recently released their new YouTube VR video, “Silvertongue.” The immersive, interactive clip, filmed at the YouTube Space LA with the support of groundbreaking experiential entertainment company, Two Bit Circus, is streaming at https://youtu.be/gnYFL_OB7qs. “Silvertongue” marks the latest single/video from Young The Giant’s third studio album, HOME OF THE STRANGE.
HOME OF THE STRANGE, immediately ascended to #1 on the iTunes Store’s “Top Alternative Albums” chart and #3 on the overall “Top Albums” chart upon its release last August. Produced by GRAMMY® Award-winner Jeff Bhasker (Jay-Z, Kanye West, Mark Ronson, fun.) and Alex Salibian (Elle King, The Band Perry), HOME OF THE STRANGE includes the exceptional tracks, “Amerika,” “Something To Believe In,” and the latest single “Silvertongue.” Along with its global popular success, the album has received widespread critical applause, highlighting how the SoCal-based band – all either first generation Americans or immigrants themselves – have masterfully dealt with themes of identity, tradition, and assimilation in the modern world. Frontman Sameer Gadhia touched on these topics in an interview on NPR’s “Weekend Edition” and penned a thoughtful essay for Salon.com. Rolling Stone raved, “Young the Giant's big-tent pop mirrors an openhearted optimism about the American dream. “While HOME OF THE STRANGE doesn't focus on the finer points of policy or directly refute rhetorical points that have been ping-ponging around the media, it does use the band’s roof-raising anthems to tackle ideas that are inherent in the immigrant and first-generation American experience.” The New York Times has praised Gadhia as “one of the great contemporary rock voices.”
Recently Young the Giant brought their celebrated live show to television making appearances on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! performing at the outdoor concert stage and they were one of the select artists on the fall season of critically acclaimed series Live from the Artists Den alongside Sturgill Simpson, Panic! at the Disco, and Lumineers. The tour’s first leg saw the band performing to sell out houses across the continent, including stops at such world famous venues as New York’s Radio City Music Hall and The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Young the Giant recently commemorated the tour with an exclusive video recap of their extraordinary 2016, streaming now at the band’s official YouTube channel.
