LITTLE CAESARS ARENA NOMINATED FOR 2017 BEST NEW CONCERT VENUE BY POLLSTAR
(DETROIT – November 17, 2017) – Pollstar, a leading world-wide concert industry magazine, today announced nominations for the 2017 Pollstar Awards to include the world-class, innovative Little Caesars Arena in the category of Best New Concert Venue.
Located in the heart of The District Detroit, one of the largest sports and entertainment developments in the country, Detroit’s marquee venue has quickly generated recognition as the region’s premier destination for sports and entertainment.
The state-of-the art arena opened with 10 consecutive sold out concerts, led by Michigan's own Kid Rock who opened the venue with six performances from September 12-20. Multiple Grammy® Award-winning global superstar Ed Sheeran (Sept. 27), the legendary Paul McCartney (Oct. 1- 2) and Grammy® Award-winning band Imagine Dragons (Oct. 15) rounded out the venue’s inaugural 10 sold out concerts. The venue has since posted additional sellout shows with the Eagles (Oct. 27), Janet Jackson (Oct. 29), Guns N’ Roses (Nov. 2) and Lady Gaga (Nov. 7).
Thousands of children and their families were also entertained as Disney on Ice made its debut at Little Caesars Arena with nine performances of its star-studded talent extravaganza Reach for the Stars from October 12-15.
Since its grand opening on September 12, more than 600,000 guests have enjoyed an event at Little Caesars Arena. Fans have appreciated the many innovations built to maximize their live event experience such as best-in-class acoustics, spacious Via concourse, dynamic LED lighting, intimate arena bowl and more.
“We designed this arena to provide unparalleled experiences for our performers, fans and the community at large, and it’s an honor to be acknowledged with the nomination as one of the best venues in the world by our industry peers,” says Tom Wilson, interim President of 313 Presents.
In addition to the world’s best entertainers gracing the stage, Little Caesars Arena is also home to the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings and the NBA’s Detroit Pistons, and will host a variety of other special sporting events, including the UFC 218 pay-per-view (Dec. 2), the Hitachi College Basketball Showcase (Dec. 16), college hockey’s Great Lakes Invitational (Jan. 1-2) and Duel in the D (Feb. 10), the 2018 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and the 2019 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in January 2019.

Winners are determined by votes from international readership and will be announced on February 8, 2018 at the 29th Annual Pollstar Awards Ceremony in Los Angeles.
