The Valentine’s Soul Jam Featuring Russell Thompkins Jr. And The New Stylistics, Heatwave, Bloodstone, Enchantment & The Intruders Will Perform At The Fox Theatre Saturday, February 10
(DETROIT – November 3, 2023) – The Valentine’s Soul Jam is coming to the Fox Theatre on Saturday, February 10 at 7 p.m. The evening will feature performances by Russell Thompkins Jr. and The New Stylistics, Heatwave, Bloodstone, Enchantment, and The Intruders. Fans will have the chance to hear some of the greatest songs ever recorded, sung by the artists who made them famous. Comerica Bank is the exclusive presenting partner of the Fox Theatre.

Raymond Johnson, who made his debut with the Stylistics as a guitar player, went on to become a singer and performed with them for 15 years. Raymond’s dedication and contribution to the original group continues as a valuable member of The New Stylistics, with Jonathan Buckson and James Ranton. It was destiny that brought the New Stylistics to Russell Thompkins, Jr. the connection was evident through their musical history. Heatwave is an international funk/disco band formed in 1975. Its most popular line-up featured Americans Johnnie Wilder Jr. and Keith Wilder (vocals) of Dayton, Ohio; Englishman Rod Temperton (keyboards); Swiss Mario Mantese (bass); Czechoslovak Ernest "Bilbo" Berger (drums); Jamaican Eric Johns (guitar); and Briton Roy Carter (guitar). They were known for their singles “Boogie Nights,” “The Groove Line” and “Always and Forever.”

About Enchantment
Smooth and melodious soul group Enchantment formed in 1967 in Detroit. Emanuel “E.J.” Johnson, Joe Thomas, Dave Banks, Ed “Mickey” Clanton, and Bobby Green obtained their first recording contract by winning first place in a 1969 talent contest. Enchantment later signed with the Roadshow label and recorded their self-titled debut album. The first single to hit the R&B chart from Enchantment (1977) was “Come On and Ride.” Later that year, the charismatic showmen received national acclaim with their second single, “Gloria,” that reached #5 on the R&B chart. The follow-up, “Sunshine,” peaked even higher at #3. As they rode that momentum, album number two, Once Upon a Dream (1978), produced the pleading “It's You That I Need,” a #1 R&B hit that reigned for four weeks. Still fronted by Johnson, the group continues to perform to this day.
